Judith Weston Acting Studio

Judith Weston Bio

Judith Weston Judith Weston is an internationally known teacher of film professionals – directors, actors, and screenwriters – and the author of two books. DIRECTING ACTORS, a consistent best seller for 14 years, is required reading in film schools and Hollywood studios. THE FILM DIRECTOR'S INTUITION, also a best seller, is more controversial; it breaks new ground in the relationships between directors and actors, between actors and their characters, between writers and their stories.

Judith’s Los Angeles studio, which she calls Two Lights Studio, brings together directors and actors with the determination to dive deeper into the possibilities of their craft, and to explore the joys and challenges of the actor-director relationship. People sometimes come from far parts of the globe. She conducts special workshops in New York City once a year, and has traveled with her seminars to Europe, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, as well as San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago. People who have studied or consulted with her, and endorsed her books, include winners and nominees of Academy Awards, Emmys, SAG and Spirit Awards, and directors of major studio films, features and shorts in competition at all the major film festivals, award-winning commercials and music videos, and countless episodic television shows.

Judith meets and skypes one-on-one with directors in pre-production for a wide variety of projects representing all genres and all budgets, from big studio films to low-budget independent features and shorts far too numerous to list – and she has been known to make herself available for “emergency” calls from the set. The services she offers directors, both one-on-one and in her workshops, are unique – both provocative and nurturing.

Judith is married to John Hoskins, who works with her on the business side of things; they live in Venice, CA. She studied acting with Harold Clurman, Stella Adler, Jose Quintero and Jean Shelton. If you want to know more about her personal and professional history, check out the extended bio.

Judith’s goal and mission is not just to improve communication between actors and directors, but to make them collaborators, to make them transparent to one another. And to invest every character and every story with the personal and imaginative truth that will make it universal and entertaining to an audience.
